Early Life

William Few was born in Maryland in 1748 to Mary Wheeler and William Few Sr.  He lived with his family on a farm in Maryland until a draught forced the family to look for better farm land.  They moved to North Carolina.

Farming did not leave very much time for William to go to school.  However, the community did hire a teacher for a short time and this is when William discovered he loved to read.  He was a self educated man and he had a lifelong love of reading. Eventually the Few family achieved prosperity. His brother, James Few, was hung for his part in an uprising. Because of the uprising the Few family moved to Georgia. There  William became a patriot.
